I’m reblogging this because I really love the thought and design that goes into the product development for Pencil.

I bought one of these as a gift, and even the process of purchasing it, the packaging, everything is aligned for a cohesive experience.

Inspiration for when I venture into the physical product space.

PENCIL.
NOW AVAILABLE WORLDWIDE.

After many months working to lay the groundwork for global shipping and sales, we are thrilled to announce that Pencil is now available for purchase worldwide. To celebrate, we’re offering a special discount on Amazon.com.

Called “the best iPad stylus” by Wired and The Verge, Pencil is the latest in our essential suite of mobile tools for creativity. Pencil’s special expressive features, erase, blend, and adaptive palm rejection, open up a new world of creative possibilities in Paper and other supported apps. This fall, we’re also introducing Surface Pressure, a new feature that uses Pencil’s uniquely-designed tip. Surface Pressure makes expression from every angle possible, and is coming to Pencil with the release of iOS 8.

Pencil comes in two models: Walnut, made from sustainable hardwood and including a built-in magnetic snap, and Graphite in black, brushed aluminum. Pencil is now for sale on Amazon UK, France, and Germany, and is available for shipping worldwide from Amazon.com. You can see all of the places to buy Pencil here. (To redeem the discount on Amazon.com, just click on the “Clip Coupon” link. Offer ends August 4, 2014.)

It’s been a long road to bring Pencil into the world. As we mentioned in November when Pencil first launched to US and Canada-based customers, crafting hardware from scratch is a complex endeavor, and making it available to creators around the world requires people with experience ranging from industrial design and mechanical engineering, to embedded systems and manufacturing management. Not to mention, legal expertise and in-depth knowledge of global logistics and distribution.

Thank you for your incredible support through these past months, and for spreading the love for Pencil far and wide. We hope the tools we make continue to inspire you to sketch, to create, and to bring your ideas to life.
